Much of Utah is covered in fog and smog these days. I had to drive 60 miles west of Salt Lake City to find a bit of blue sky. There are railroad tracks that are built on a levy that divides part of the Great Salt Lake. Here they are.

I was practicing some new lighting with the Elinchrom Rotalux Softbox Deep Octa 70 cm. I had this jar of facial creme sitting on the fron diffuser of the Octa, connected to the Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS pack with a Ranger S Head. I lit the sides with a Quadra Hybrid RX and two Ranger Quadra S Head for key and softening the edges.

Below is the setup. The vignetting is from a Hasselblad bellows I use on all my cameras to the lens completely. You can see the outline os the Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octa 70 cm.

It was snowing the night my son and I hung these festive glass ornaments in our Aspens. I made this photographed the next day, while the snow was still falling.

My very clever assistant was testing an Canon 580EX II on his Olympus E-P2 camera as I was testing my new Elinchrom Ringflash with Hensel 20 deg grid. I like the “halo” light from the Elinchrom.
